The GamesBeat Summit 2023 gave enough time to look into the revolution in the game industry and how it is changing to become more flexible and adaptable. There were many different topics at the Summit, such as artificial intelligence, creative business models, and ways to make money on Web3. It was important because it brought together gaming communities and leaders from the business.

At the GamesBeat Summit, there are exhibitions, roundtable talks, Q&A sessions, VIP lunches and dinners, diversity breakfasts, one-on-one meetings, awards, and more. On the last day of the GamesBeat Summit 2023 meeting in Los Angeles, the 2023 Visionary Awards were shown.

Meggan Scavio, who is the head of the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences, is given the Visionary Award. The Up-and-Comer Award goes to Rich Vogel, who has worked in the online gaming business for a long time.

GamesBeat Summit 2023 Visionary Award

As part of the GamesBeat Summit, the GamesBeat Visionary Award is given to people or groups who have made important contributions to web3 games and have a clear vision for the future. This award goes to leaders who have had a long-term effect on the business and are bold, creative, and inventive.

Zsuzsa James, who is the senior trade commissioner for the Finnish consulate, was in charge of the award ceremony.

Rand Miller, co-founder of Cyan and co-creator of Myst, Ted Price, founder of Insomniac Games, John Smedley, studio head at Amazon Game Studios San Diego, Laura Miele, head of gaming at Electronic Arts, Sarah Bond, corporate vice president of Xbox at Microsoft, and others have all won this award before.

The GamesBeat Visionary Awards winners are chosen by a proper nomination process. The winner is chosen by people who work in the video game business and write for Web3.

As part of this event, GamesBeat gave out its sixth Up and Comer Award. Eve Crevoshay of Take This, Natasha "ZombieKills" Zinda, and Dinga Bakaba have all won this prize in the past. The winner of Up and Comer has a chance to make a big difference in the video game business. Also, things like age or previous experience in the web3 business have nothing to do with this award. Instead, it shows that the winner has yet to reach his or her fullest potential. The most exciting thing about these awards is that they come out of nowhere and catch the winners by surprise.

Visionary Award Presentation

Meggan Scavio got the gift from Sibel Sunar, the CEO of Forty-Seven Communications. Sunar said that he had worked for Scavio in different ways for more than 20 years. Scavio has been giving out gifts for a long time in the video game business, but yesterday, they turned the tables on her.

Scavio started her long career as the events manager at the Game Developers Conference, where she made sure that everyone had a great time. She worked closely with the advisory board and developers before running the AIAS and setting up the DICE Summit, and she finally ran the show for many years.

Scavio made a big difference in how well the Academy Foundation did, and the grants are just as good. Sunar says that the scholarship program accepts newcomers and helps deserving students reach their goals.

Scavio says in her acceptance speech, "Throughout my career, I've been driven by the idea of an industry that is open to everyone." "One that faces accurately shows the network of creative and different people who make games and give us so many different, meaningful, and just plain fun ways to play," she said. In the games business, "there is still some room for improvement" when it comes to representation.

GamesBeat Summit 2023 Up and Comer Award

Rich Vogel got the Up and Comer Award from Raph Koster, the CEO of Playable Worlds. He saw that the judges seemed to be very optimistic about Vogel.

Koster says, "At some point, Vogel took him off the list of people who were going to be laid off because he believed in him and thought he might have a future in games."

He showed Koster the most important things to learn from a trade show and stand crawl. Vogel asked Koster to join a new company, and the two of them worked together on Star Wars: Galaxies, an MMO that became a big hit.

Vogel had no idea, and the honor totally caught him off guard.

"When I saw the email for the first time, I wasn't sure if they had the right person." Vogel stated. "When I told my wife, she started laughing hysterically."'Maybe you're a late grower,' she tells him. I said, "OK, I'll go with that." Now.”

A strategic partner gave him money for his new studio at the same time that he found out he had won the award.

"I'm always looking for passionate people who want to work together to make a new world with great player experiences and a great viral community." "That's my passion," Vogel said. "And I look for people who can teach me and help me grow." I like to do that kind of thing. I'm very proud of the people who work for me and the ones I've taught and worked with.
